Lenstec has achieved another milestone in its remarkable history with the opening of a newly built and custom designed medical device manufacturing facility in Barbados. After two years of planning and building, the new space is double the size of the previous facility and has the growth capacity to meet expected market demand for the next decade. Following the move into the new facility and successful completion of environmental and production validations, the factory was certified by British Standards Institution, ensuring a seamless supply of Lenstec products to customers. Lenstec first received the CE Mark in 1997, and currently employs over 120 people in Barbados. |

As a global manufacturer of intraocular lenses for cataract and refractive surgery, Lenstec’s Barbados-based manufacturing operation currently produces in excess of 300,000 IOLs and other ophthalmic devices per year. With two IOL designs currently in US clinical trials (The Tetraflex™ presbyopia correcting IOL & the Softec HD™ aberration-neutral IOL) and expected to gain US FDA pre-market approval in 2009, Lenstec projects annual global demand for its lenses to exceed 500,000 after FDA approval. The new facility was designed with the capacity to meet this demand and more. Lenstec Inc. headquarters is located in St. Petersburg, Florida USA. In addition to the manufacturing facility in Barbados, Lenstec also has a sales office in the United Kingdom. |
