Capsular Tension Rings
Lenstec’s Contribution to Surgical Success
Lenstec’s CTRs stand out due to their superior material quality, precise manufacturing, and surgeon-friendly design. The LR-1300B and LR-1400B models are tailored to meet the highest surgical standards, ensuring ease of insertion, controlled expansion, and long-term stability.
Their optimized structure allows ophthalmic surgeons to achieve better visual outcomes, particularly in complex cases requiring additional support.

Capsular Tension Rings (CTRs)
Capsular Tension Rings (CTRs) are essential medical devices designed to stabilize and maintain the integrity of the capsular bag during cataract surgery, particularly in cases of zonular instability.
Our engineers at Lenstec developed the first “visible” Capsular Tension Ring to enable surgeons to concentrate on implantation rather than focussing on the CTR implant ; ordinarily clear in material and invariably difficult to identify in situ. And hence why the blue CTR has been a firm favourite amongst users since.
Purpose and Functionality of Capsular Tension Rings
The primary function of a CTR is to redistribute forces within the capsular bag, ensuring that areas of weakened zonules receive adequate support. This stabilization helps maintain the shape of the capsular bag, crucial for effective IOL implantation and centration and minimizing postoperative complications.
Lenstec’s range of CTRs are made from medical grade polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and are designed with a blue tint for enhanced visibility, allowing surgeons to position them with precision and confidence. They offer high flexibility and greater memory control, ensuring controlled expansion within the capsular bag, minimizing the risk of trauma during insertion.
The simple implantation method is easy to master either manually or with any market CTR injector.
Lenstec’s LR1300B/LR1400B are particularly beneficial in cases involving:
- Zonular absence or damage due to trauma or pseudoexfoliation syndrome
- High myopia with an increased risk of capsular contraction
- Complex phacoemulsification procedures
- Lens luxation requiring enhanced structural support
