The Equi-conic zero aberration bi-aspheric profile enhance visual quality compared to tradition IOLs.
The SoftecHD received FDA approval in 2010, alongside MDR and CFDA certification. This gives surgeons and patients complete confidence that every SoftecHD lens is manufactured to the very highest global standards.
Expert Engineering
Lenstec was founded as a technology transfer company, building and supporting lens manufacturing laboratories around the world. In the late 1990s, we brought this expertise in-house and established our own manufacturing facilities.
By combining deep technical knowledge with lens design innovation, Lenstec quickly became recognised for producing lenses of exceptional quality. This reputation led global companies such as Bausch & Lomb, Santen and Staar to subcontract lens manufacturing to Lenstec, a testament to the precision and reliability of our engineering.

Did you know….
A 6mm labelled IOL can have as little as 4.8mm of usable optic.
Due to the demands for micro-incision, companies have had to come up with inventive ways to reduce the centre thickness of the optic, as this is the controlling factor for what will pass through an injector tip. The optic size that is labelled for an IOL is the whole lens diameter and NOT the optic power curvature also known as usable optic!

Zero-Aberration Asphericity
Traditional aspheric IOLs were designed to offset the average corneal aberration of around +0.27 microns, using negative aberration profiles in the range of –0.20 to –0.27 microns. While this approach can improve outcomes for some patients, it may compromise vision in those with atypical corneal shapes.
The SoftecHD takes a different approach with a true zero-aberration design. This has been shown to extend the focal point and improve depth of focus[1], while remaining highly tolerant across a wide variety of corneal profiles and degrees of defocus.
This is especially important for today’s cataract population, which increasingly includes patients who previously underwent refractive surgery. These patients often do not have regular corneal profiles and may experience reduced visual quality with traditional spherical or negative aspheric lenses. With SoftecHD, surgeons can provide more consistent and reliable outcomes across a broader patient base.

User Feedback
“The Softec HD IOL is an excellent monofocal lens offering outstanding quality, with the advantage of quarter dioptre powers throughout the commonly used range. We frequently witness a pleasantly surprising degree of unaided nearer vision”.
–Professor Andrew Luff
“I have been user of the Softec HD lens for quite a number of years. I like the fact that it comes in ¼ powers, so that we can aim for the closest refractive outcome desired.
Patients have always fed back positively, and the lens has never caused problems such as calcification or glistening’s as soon in other IOL’s!.”
