Softec HD Testimonials
During our FDA studies for the Softec HD, we looked at quality of vision as well as accommodation. The patients were tested and found to have a near vision with corrected distance refraction of between J3 and J5 and the quality of distance vision was excellent. The refractive error was dependable suggesting that the lens did not deviate anteriorly or posteriorly. The glare complaints were minimal due to the low index of refraction. We anticipate that this type of lens will become the standard lens of choice of the future as it gives patients both distance and intermediate vision without glare or side effects.

I was very impressed with the Softec HD IOL. The results were both predictable and consistent. Despite having a plano refraction postoperatively, the patients had a surprising amount of near vision for a monofocal refractive IOL. I look forward to using the Softec HD upon FDA approval.

From my very first experience with the Softec HD Acrylic IOL, it was immediately apparent that its unique design eliminated any learning curve, and made lens delivery and centration a dream. Having implanted nearly 100 Softec HD lenses, this intra-operative experience remained quite consistent, and the stability long term in the capsular bag has been perfect, with absolutely no suggestion of retraction of phymosis. The .25 diopter increments in lens availability means an unprecedented degree of targeting and achieving the patient’s specific post operative refractive goal, whether it be emmetropia, [mini] monovision, or blended vision, and will be of particular benefit in patients having previously undergone kerato refractive surgery such as RK or PRK/LASIK. Due to both the diopteric options and the optical quality of the lens material, I recommend this lens to my colleagues without reservation as a monofocal refractive IOL.

I truly enjoyed using the Softec HD intraocular lens during the clinical trial. It is surgeon friendly and affords excellent post-operative vision. The lens stays well centered. The refractive result is stable and predictable.
- Bruce Silverstein, MD, FACS Redding, California
The Softec HD aspheric lens proved to be very consistent in providing excellent surgical and clinical outcomes in our FDA study. The addition of the quarter diopter steps will further enhance the stellar results of this lens beyond what was experienced in the 1/2D steps.
- David C. Brown, MD Ft Myers, Florida
My results with the Softec HD have been outstanding. The day 1 post op vision and refractive targeting is very impressive. The optics and quarter diopter steps raise the bar for monofocal IOLs.
- Robert Weinstock, MD Largo, Florida
My patients had a very positive experience with the Softec HD aspheric IOL in the FDA clinical drills. I look forward to being able to offer this technology to my patients.

As a high-volume lens and laser based refractive surgeon, tight refractive outcomes and high quality vision are critical. The exquisitely accurate 0.125D tolerances of the Softec HD allow me to deliver what patients expect – excellent refractive outcomes with minimal need for LASIK enhancements. With other IOLs, my biggest source of unexpected refractive error is the difference between IOL labeling and the actual power of the lens; for most IOLs, the allowed tolerance can be as high as + or – 1D. With the Softec HD, what you see on the box is what you get. Furthermore, the lack of spherical aberration on the lens allows me to deliver these highly accurate refractive outcomes without inducing aberrations. These factors, plus the ease of insertion and biocompatibility of the Softec HD make this lens my non-presbyopic IOL of choice for all of my patients.
- Paul Dougherty, MD Camarillo, California
With the quarter diopter lens powers the Softec HD gives the surgeon more accuracy than ever before. My personal experience has resulted in improved refractive outcomes and happier patients.
